Thanks to Jacques for responding here.
paledude,
First, you are very right to be questioning. Using unlicensed and unregulated drugs like the melanotan peptides is something folks should be considering with serious intention and as such with respect to consideration of using these drugs it is right to be questioning at all levels.
Back when Melanotan.org looked like this:
http://web.archive.org/web/20010124015900/http://melanotan.org/ I was responding to hundreds of e-mails as explained here:
http://melanotan.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1233693045/3#3 In 2004 I decided to open this forum to alleviate the demand for information and allow others to help expand the knowledge about these peptides. Initially I was very involved with keeping the forum running and
invited (in 2004) first
endymion96 (
his log) and
later (2006) Justaguy to moderate the forums. Of the two, endymion96 was the more active and pioneering, researching the peptides and performing his own self-experiments (Justaguy experimented too prior to being a moderator) and extensively sharing what he learned with others and in particular what he was finding from scientific research perspectives. In terms of these forums endymion96 was essentially the forum member who established that melanotan II was the more active and effective peptide of the two (at least in subcutaneous injection regimens). Many of the stickies found in the forums today are posts that he put together to help inform members. In 2006ish my activity waned and endymion96 and Justaguy essentially ran the show unaided along with board moderator
Pseudonym (he was primarily concentrated on the previously existing buying & selling area but also contributed with scientific research information and some spreadsheet tools along with sharing
his log). Then in the later half of 2007 I came back and endymion96 and Justaguy's activity waned and I
announced a need for more moderators whereupon
MSHie an active member at the time offered to moderate and
I accepted. MSHie conducted his own self-experiments and research and shared his knowledge with other forum members. Then in the first half of 2008
sideways (
his log) offered to moderate explaining that he had been busy in the past when I had previously put out requests for moderators. In the later half of 2008 the BBC did
a report warning about peptide usage and MSHie's activity waned and I became even more active in the forums. Then in the later half of 2009 sideways' activity waned and now as Jacques explained it is pretty much just myself running the show.
With respect to deleting threads Jacques is very right. Apart from spam and plain nonsense nothing is deleted (there was a buying & selling section that in essence got deleted but that was
due to a change of site policy). Everything is here, the good and the bad. The forum software is designed such that threads with little to no activity become relegated to subsequent pages after the first page of a given forum. It may seem like they get actively 'moved' but they don't. The software sets their importance and prominence chronologically relative to the last post made in the thread. The thread you were wondering about hasn't seen much activity of late and so has correspondingly landed on one of these 'older' pages.
My post here in the thread you were wondering about explains why I am not using either peptide. Corresponding to what I have written there I sooner discourage people from starting a regimen particularly when they show themselves to have a casual aire.
This is how the site is partially funded currently. The reality at this point is that most of the site expenses are being paid out of my pocket (as has been the case for many years).
