Powder, I hate on pile on the questions, but I have a couple.

You say the tan faded over three months, after reaching 'peak tan' at four weeks. Is that a longer duration than you've ever managed to hold any natural colour before melanotan?

You mention that you were told to avoid sun as much as possible, and that you complied with this as much as possible. Could you tell me what time of year it was and what climate you live in?

Thanks.

Hi Powder,

You say that you have used melanotan injections in addition to the implant. Could you say how the implant tan compared to the daily injections in terms of colour changes, parts of body that tanned etc.? Also, what sort of dosing regime did you use in your self experimentation. Many thanks,

Darkhorse

Scott - no real complaints about the implant. I'd much prefer a once-off trip to the doctor's office than twice-daily injections for a few weeks. The tan only lasted roughly 3 months because I deliberately stayed out of the sun the whole time, probably through force of habit. The implant was meant to be absorbed within 4 weeks so I suppose that was when I stopped noticing any more darkening, and it gradually faded to about type I again within about 4 months. Pretty sure we weren't told to keep it quiet about the trial, in fact I think there was a blerb in the paper the first week the trial began. I saw the trial was being held in my home town on the Epitan site so I just put my name down for it. Sadly, I have no pictures of myself during that time. The trial people (strangely I thought) took photos during but none before, I guess the results surprised them.

mattjames - before the implant I was a type I, never tanned. I'd say the implant made me a type III no worries. I was well impressed. The time of year was late spring (beginning of November), sthrn hemisphere, subtropical climate.

darkhorse - the daily injections are rubbish compared to the implant. I'd say 70mg just put me at a type II level, it's a lot more variable because there aren't always sunny days or opportunities to get some sun, whereas the implant works no matter what you do. It does appear to be cumulative; about a month before the trial I'd gone snorkelling and the backs of my legs had gotten sunburnt. They went red for a few days and then faded to white. But after the implant, where I'd been sunburnt went darker than the front of my legs which hadn't burnt. Also with the implant, the parts that normally receive the most sun on a day-to-day basis (face, arms) went darker than the rest of me, but my entire body did tan. On the injections it's only the parts that receive sun exposure. I used about 2.5mg/day in two doses (60kg at 0.04mg/kg). [This is melanotan-1 not melanotan II, I've had no experience with the latter]

powder- when i first saw the video where a patient became the implant i was shocked that there has to be a local anesthesia and a surgery to place the implant deep into the body. was it the same procedure for you? how big is the cut? imagine myself having a surgery every three months leaving another scar i think injecting is the lesser of two devils. Huh

ThePaler - I haven't seen the video but it sounds like the same deal. It was mostly painless, only required one suture, and the scar is practically invisible now. I would think, depending on UV exposure, that only once or maybe twice a year would be sufficient. The whole injecting business, it's full of hassles; wondering if your supplier is going to rip you off, waiting for it to clear customs, wondering if it's the real thing or something dodgy from China (melamine maybe?), wondering if it's past its use-by date, procuring needles and bac water and alcohol swabs, trying to find a spot with enough fat that doesn't hurt, worrying about infection -- sod that for a laugh. At least a proper drug company implant you know what you're getting, once it's in you can forget about it, and you don't have to spend as much time in the sun to get a tan because the implant is so much more effective! Bring it on I say!

powder u say u experimented with melanotan-1 injections and they where rubbish, did u just stop at 70mgs? or did u keep going, maybe u didnt dose high enough. I would like to experiment with melanotan-1 but ive seen nothing that convinces me it can work aswell as melanotan II unforunatley, as a type 1 it already takes me about 70mgs of melanotan II taken over the space of a month before it starts working, so u can imagine the amout of melanotan-1 id need, thanks

bulletman, I went up to about 100mg and the results were good. Good, but not great. More sunlight would've definitely helped, but I have a natural aversion to it due to a lifetime of pale skin. The implant, on the other hand, was great. That's all I'm really interested in at the moment, when will this freakin' implant be available!

i'm sorry powder, another question:   Wink

did you/do you have any of the conditions that the implant is being designed/marketed for? and are you hopeful that it will be available to people without such conditions?

apologies if you have stated this information before.

newnameolduser - I had a few small AKs, mostly on my forearms and some around the forehead and temple region. If it brings relief to people suffering from the four conditions it's being marketed for then I definitely hope it becomes available quickly. However I read that something like 50% of caucasians are likely to be affected by AKs (that's a lot of people), so maybe on those grounds it might be sufficient to convince a doctor to prescribe the implant...

So you do get a slight tanning of the skin without UV exposure. Shocked Thats what i was told about this drug years ago but after experimenting with melanotan II i lost a lot of faith. Dont get me wrong the tan i acheived was better than i ever imagined possible, so good that i could have passed for another nationality easily but unless you have regular access to a Sunbed than you can totally forget about an all over even tan with melanotan II..... So you dont have to fry yourself to get colour with the implant. Thats the best news ive heard. If what Powder says is true than its time to buy a few shares. Wink

Anyone got any theories why the implant caused powder to tan without uv wheras via injection this didn't happen even at a higher dose?

I was lucky enough to get the real deal when participating in the 1:1 Placebo clinical trial too.  Was great.  Went quite dark, yet never went in the sun...

The doctor said on a checkup "well it's easy to see you didn't get the placebo" lol

He also went on to saying that the drug seemed completely safe, and worked well for everyone he'd seen.  The only reason they hadn't released it was because the implant was too invasive.

Yeah, i still have a scar on my belly years later from it.  It was raised for years, but has flattened out now.  It's about half the size of my pinkie fingernail (small).  What i do hate were the skin biopsies they took from the lower back (top of my butt).  They've left a small row of scars too, but look more clinical as they're all in a row (3 or 4 from memory).  You also get a check for $300 for 'transport expenses' lol

All in all it was a great trial.  The implant feels a lil funny once you get it.  You can feel it under your skin.  But you quickly forget about it.  You still get mole darkening and darker hair on your stubble, but that is just from the melanin - not much you can do about that.

I've also used injections after to try and recreate the effect.  But there really is nothing like the real thing. I did get a pretty cute girlfriend at the same time too (model) - coincidence? ha!

I'm considering doing another round of injections, but seem to have trouble getting the skin colour up nowadays.  Tan Research worked a treat but from all the positive reviews i've mainly used USLabResearch - Chinese melanotan-1, to a seemingly lesser effect.  I think it's all about the patience, and building your way up from 0.5 - 3 or 4mg... It's just so hard to gauge.

Anyway, hope that's interesting to someone  Cheesy
