I have moderate to severe rosacea, accompanied by intense flushing and always red.. I go to the derm and do the creams and lasers, but can't seem to get control of this.. I am currently on day 11 of my loading phase with melanotan II.. hopefully it will help me.. i am going to wait a while before i get in tanning bed because i'm too scared to tan my face.  I have been trained for years to run from the sun because of my rosacea.  Now I am going to see if this actually works for me, and if it works for me then I know it will work for any rosacean.  So far I have noticed the freckles popping up and possibly a slight color difference, but that may be in my head.  The real test will come when I actually attempt to tan around 25mg in.  I will keep ya posted on this if anyone is curious.

So far I am on day 13... I am injecting 1mg per day.  I don't really see any good results yet because I am just loading and haven't been tanning yet.  I have the usually side effects of freckles.  I am hoping that after about 25mg in I will tan little by little and pray for a brown face, not a red one.

I am new here and I am very excited and encouraged by these posts. I was diagnosed with Rosacea about a year ago and my skin is very sensitive. I could not tolerate the metrogel or finacea prescribed so I am not on any medications. The redness is more of a problem for me than anything. Per my dermatologist's instructions I stopped tanning and I miss having some color other than this red face. Will a dermatologist or any doctor prescribe Melanotan? Is it covered under insurance? Where can I purchase and how should I use? Do I have to inject? Any alternatives? Any side effects I should look for? I would LOVE to try this and could use some direction as to where to start. Thanks so much.

Hey mommamiaria.. my skin also got red before the melanotan and it was too sensitive for anything to help it.. melanotan is not approved yet by the FDA so you will not be able to get it through a doctor and it will not be covered by insurance.  Yes you would have to inject it.  There is an alternative nasal spray, but I have only read bad reviews on it.  There are sections on this forum that tell where to buy it and how you should use it, side effects, etc.. read all about the product before you use it.

A  melanotan II user recently visited one of the original Researchers in another log and he suggested that melanotan-1 would be 'interesting ' for rosacea sufferers. He would not elaberate on much as he has a financial interest in melanotan.

Thanks for your reply. I am a BIG baby when it comes to needles. I am going to keep watching and praying that some alternatives become available. Thanks again. Have a great weekend.

mommamiaria, I really wouldnt wait on this for your condition, I do belive this drug will get to the market, But as it is, Clinuvel havnt done any testing on this drug for treating roseaca, so even when it is out, I dont think you can just ask for it for your condition, I belive there testing it on very rare photosensitivity skin disorders.

You should try injecting. It doesnt hurt really.
Btw, Im starting to get roseaca, and I got a log going now too in melanotan-1, Il update soon on any changes to the lightly red areas of my face.

Yes, please keep me posted. Thank you so much. This whole Rosacea thing is fairly new to me. I had awesome skin and then I asked the dermatologist about two small red bump on my face. I thought it was my eczema. I have very sensitive skin and he prescribed a treatment of metrogel and finacea and you should have seen my face after one day. I was a mess in a dress. I went to several dermatologists afterward for second opinions because my face was on fire. They determined that I may not have had rosacea initially and that the treatment prescribed may actually have caused it. Well, I have it now. Even if I get a little nervous, upset, scared or stressed or anything, my face is bright red. I am trying Laser Genesis combined with Solar Genesis to see what kind of results I see. I could not afford it but they offered me a really great price so I am going to try it this once. If not, I may have to get over my fear of needles.
