Hi all,

Many people probably do not know about F@H, but this site is one of the first of its kind to build a super-computer by networking the power of simple home computers like the one you are using now. F@H stands for "Folding At Home" and is a project which employs the unused cycles of your micro-processor to simulate the folding of proteins. This information is used to further scientific research and to perhaps find a cure to all manner of diseases. You can read all about it at the link below and also download the software to your computer so that you can be a small part of furthering the medical community's knowledge.

Very important ... when you sign up, PLEASE use my group number 72673 to join me in this endeavor. My team name is "No Disease Left Behind". THANKS !!!

Hi, I'm assuming that this project is not for those still on dial - up, as we have to close our connections to the net periodically, but if I'm wrong please let me know.
I'd also be interested in Scott's opinion of the project.
Thanks in advance!

I've not participated in Folding@Home. I have however previously participated in Seti@Home the search for extraterrestrial life. The way that the Seti@Home project was setup at that time was such that even dialup users could effectively participate because the amount of data to be downloaded and uploaded per work-chunk was relatively small. This may also be the case with F@H. F@H strikes me as a noble pursuit. This post is fairly old now though and it leaves me wondering if endy is still participating. If you'd like to head it up we could start a Melanotan.org team of folders, if not then I say give it a try on your own. Wink
