After 21 days in I'm beginning to suspect that this is more likely staining from the dark solution than actual changes in the skin.

I understand how it could be stains from the dark solution....but...how come it got darker in a few days?

..interesting though..great job and thanks for experimenting!!

Marialat,
The solution is dark coffee color, so the more times you apply it, the darker the stain. It would be like the self tanning lotions the more times you apply them the darker you get.
I know some of the color is staining, but the jury is still out as to whether anything is happening deep in the dermis.

Kakarot,
The U.S. Chem. Co. were the researchers got there Forskolin charges $139.50 for only 10mg. That is a very small quantity.
You are talking about ordering a pound or kilo from India! I know things are cheaper in India, you didn"t tell me how much you are paying.
How do you order-Phone, mail ,fax?
How do you pay?
How long from the day you order "til you receive?
Do you have the full article from Nature Journal?
How much powder to solvent will you mix and what solvent?
Thank you.

I'm tempted, but don"t know if I want to spend another $150.00 for the real thing.
Hoodles:
This is a very powerful herb that affects blood pressure and many other functions in the body. the skin is the largest organ in the human body. I beleive that the oral; dose required to produce results in the skin may produce major effects on blood pressure, heart and who knows what else. Dgitalis is derived from Foxglove plant, and opium and morphine from the poppy. They are are used extensively in medicine and can cure you or kill you.

Quite right!  In addition, if you choose to use a powerful
solvent like DMSO, you may be pulling in all kinds of
things you did not bargain for (solvents used in the original
extraction, plant pollens, etc).  So some caution should
be exercised

Copy your posts as u go along and if it disappears just paste it back..that's why I do now after losing many posts.

It can get frustrating but do as I do and it will save you time reposting when all u have to do is just paste it back.

Does the tan/stain give off a odor or some kind of smell?

I'm sure that would be a concern also.

Thanks Smiley

No smell for me.

It's India -- it's chump change.  Like 40 bucks for a kilo,or even less.  and you need a lot of this stuff, so buying in tiny pills isn't practical.   I heard 1fast400  the supplement guy online sells lots for cheap too, but as to quality, I dunno.

Blue,
Thanks for the posting tip, but as I said earlier, I'm somewhat pc challenge so I don"t know how to copy and paste.

The only odor is that of the 96% ethyl alcohol, but it evaporates within seconds of being applied to the warm skin.
Only the Forskolin in Propylene Gycol remain. PG is the chemical that carrys the F. into the skin, its used in many cosmetics and Rogaine. So no odor after applied.

Kakarot,
Thanks, but you didn"t answer all of my questions of reply #23.
perhaps you have been busy. I still can't understand why you would say you need a lot of Forskolin, like a pound?

MSHie,
I never did answer your question. Yes, you have the formula I used correct. Difference in color could yust be lighting?
I would encourage others who are going to try the test to get their Forskolin from different sources so we may find one source is working better than others.

I found many interesting news reports on the research with quotes made to the reporters by Dr. David Fisher.
I think of special interest is Dr. Fisher has formed a Co. called Magen Biosciences and has licensed the technology from the Dana-Farber institute. This to me means he probably is already at work developing this for human use!!

An update on my trial with Forskolin. Iam now 30 days into the trial. The color hasn't got any darker. 10-22-06 I noticed that the skin surrounding the test patches started breaking out with what looks like the PMLE I would experience if I exposed my leg to the sun for maybe one hour, yet my skin was not exposed to the sun! The test patches did not break out with any eruptions!
My theory is that the Forskolin is signaling the keratinocytes in the test patches that they have been sun exposed and setting up a defense responds in the mc1r receptors. The surrounding skin is being signaled- either thru cappilaries or nervous system that it has been sun exposed. yet it is not protected with the Forskolin. Just a theory. I have cut back to just one Forskolin application per day on 10-25. I had planned to expose the test patch areas to the sun after 30 days but will wait a while longer before doing this.

Hi socalguy...this is very interesting!!!

Do you still believe that the darkening of the skin is a stain? Or are you now more inclined into believing it's a "tan" from the Forskolin??

Great update.

I think its a tan from my limited trial.
However, Coleus seems to cause dermatitis
even if it is dissolved in a lipid base (or all the
one's I've tried).

I am going to give the Vitamin D in sesame oil
a try for the moment - don't want to frack up any
more of my skin.

I think that what will happen if this works is it will happen quite suddenly just like with melanotan.  Nothing for a long stretch while body gears up in body, then it kicks in quickly and dramatically over maybe a few days to a week.

I don't have any forskolin again yet, but I'm gonna try internal i think, even though it's a bit dodgy with cAMP levels.  I have to monitor it close.

Any news on that girl who used Astralagus and Dong Quai with sun exposure?  She was having results in a week with internal use but hasn't posted since I don't think.  VERY curious about her.

Zorba,
Since the skin erruptions happened after about 25 days, I don't believe that this is dermatits. Dermatitis would have occured within a few days and on the patch test areas and not surrounding them.

Marialat,
The jury is still out as to tan/stain but from the research of Dr. Fisher it seems that since the human skin is thicker than a mouse it could take longer than 30 days to see results.

Skin eruptions (for me) happened within a few days.
I was using a fairly high concentration though.

I don't think its the forskolin, I think its other things,
probably pollens or other plant substances.  Seems to
happen to most that try it though so it could be a
show stopper.
